i'm 33. i live with my husband, baby daughter 2 dogs and 1 kitty. i'm a chemical engineer with an MBA and work in technical sales. i tend to bite off more than i *think* i can chew and end up with a full bulging mouth for awhile before i can finally swallow. i thrive in chaos, but strive for order.

maybe now si will mow the lawn

today i had my first allery testing. poked 63 times on the back and 20 on the arms to find out that grasses are my nemesis.

as well as a few trees and pet dander.

since i had to stay off anti-histimines for the last week in preparation for this test, i was MISERABLE last week. and my symptoms have been so bad that i don't think i've slept a full night in over two months.

so needless to say, i welcomed the prescription strength allegra, prednisone prescription, and nasal spray with open arms.

i just hope that the welts on my back dissappear in time for my friends wedding this weekend!

  2. How many hits did you get from your tests? I had 80 done on my back and reacted to 70. Some welts were bigger than the measurement wheel.

My Colorado allergies were similar to yours - grass, pollen, thistles, pet dander. Allegra is WONDERFUL. I don't think I could function without it.

Now that I'm stuck in Houston, I've added dust mites and mold to my allergy list, so I've been getting shots for the past 4 yrs. They suck - but its better than being sick all the time.

Hope you survive the prednisone and the Allegra does the trick for ya!

  3. e- i can't remember exactly, but reacted to all 5 or 6 grasses, 4 trees, cat and dog, and ~4-5 weeds. nmold or dust mites thank goodness - i didn't want to give up my feather bed, down comforter, and down pillows!

  4. You won't have mold or dustmites b/c its too dry (ie humid) for them to exist in numbers that would bother you.

Your welts should go away quickly. Cortizone cream and the predisone will make them disappear quickly!
